This smoky-purple Baptisia makes a strong statement in a perennial bed, hedge or as a speciman planting.
Enchanting flowers open first at the base of the flower stalk, which can top out at 4 1/2'.
Black seedpods follow bloom, which can add to the winter garden interest.

This is a natural hybrid of Baptisia australis and B. alba, discovered by Rob Gardner of the N.C. Botanic Garden.
Cutting off the spent flowers may promote a second bloom. Long vase life. Happiest in a sunny situation. If planted in part shade, Baptisia will stretch for the sun and may require some staking.
