To promote a bushy plant, pinch back the growing tips. Prefers well-drained, rich soil. Appreciates a manure compost mixed with soil. Mulch basil after the soil has warmed up. Plant basil near peppers and tomatoes to enhance their growth. For winter months- pot up with potting soil and place in a bright south or west window. Preserve by air-drying or freezing.
