This tender perennial herb is an unassuming deciduous shrub with highly aromatic, pointed leaves and white blooms in the summer. Use in teas, soups, salads and fish entrees. Preserve by air-drying. Popular for sachets and potpourri.
This herb was named after Maria Louisa, Princess of Parma and wife of King Carlos IV, King of Spain and that it has whorls of three (tri) leaves (phyla). Queen of the lemony herbs.
Pinch back the tips to keep bushy. Harvest foliage as needed. Grows best in fertile, well-drained soil.
